Stroke Unit

Friends Support Stroke Patients

The League of Friends has helped by giving nearly £10,000 to provide equipment for the hospital’s new service catering for stroke patients. We have furnished a new kitchen on the ward for this invaluable local facility – which provides rehabilitation with specialists from acute hospitals – for patients recovering from their illness.

They follow the stroke pathway and receive expert nursing in the eight-bed unit helped by therapists. Typically patients stay for four to six weeks although some go home before.

We are continuing to provide newspapers for patients and see that televisions we bought for patients more than four years ago are in good working order. Indeed they will gradually have to be replaced.
