Electric Beds

Patient comfort has been greatly enhanced thanks to 13 new beds provided by the League of Friends.

The adjustable beds are a great aid to patient comfort especially for those for whom mobility is reduced.

A patient explained: “The beds are a great help as they enable you to sleep sitting up. Without them you slide down the mattress when you are propped up because it is plastic and there is a problem with pillows.

“They are more comfortable because the bed supports the back and makes it easier to get up. The patient can control the bed positions with a hand held remote, there are different positions and you can have raised legs.

“It saves the nurses effort when they make the bed. Everything is integral to the bed and it is just easier.”

Proceeds from the Friends annual bottle stall at the Riverhead Carnival on September 19 boosted funds. President Roger Hope - who helped man the stand - said: “It was a great success raising over £500 thanks to the support of our members."

Subscriptions are due annually by the end of September. They remain at £2.50 for existing members who could convert to making a one off payment of £25 for life membership. The cost is £5 for new members.
